In planning a possible one-way JFK-LHR in WT+ (and then connecting on to Germany) for next month, I'm that seeing the one-way fares are much higher than round-trip. I've done a search here and it seems the best approach is to simply buy RT and set up the return date for way down the line so that I might conceivably might find a way to use it later (though more likely I'd not use it at all). But I just wanted to double-check the collective wisdom on this. Is this the best approach? Any nuances I should be aware of?

FWIW, I wouldn't be making a habit of this, which I realize could attract BA's attention.
