Just a thought: Book the IAD overnight if you can tolerate it as a worst case scenario, and then keep an eye for something better to open up that would get you all the way in Saturday. If it does, it's only $75-$100 to change it, which is less than you'd be spending to buy another airline flight, or on your hotel at IAD. I'd say in February, you have a decent chance that something would open up. It's a gamble, but one perhaps worth considering.
