It would be nice if the TSA captured videos of bag searches, and uploaded them to a web database. They could print a url and a QR code on the piece of paper they place inside your bag after they're done with their routine. This would help put a rest to the "it's your word against ours" conversation that often ensues when luggage contents go missing.
The last thing the Security Theater Authority wants is for people to have evidence of their employees stealing. In one case, they accidentally turned over their video to a local sheriff; when the case went to court, they argued that the video shouldn't be admissible because it contained "secret information" about how they searched suitcases.
The fact that a known thief clearly had this "secret information" was somehow not deemed relevant.
(If I'd been involved, I'd have put the video on YouTube before the court case.)
