I'm not sure what Cathay's policy is regarding cabin crew resting in unoccupied J class seats but if they are going to do it can they at least do it quietly and discreetly!?
To your first point, I have flown on these overnight mid-haul regional flights 4x this year. Have another one coming up later this year. Personally, the absolute last thing I want is a coffee/tea service before landing. I sleep until the captain announces 30 minutes to landing. So there are just some fundamental differences in opinion here....I would be pissed if they woke me up an hour before landing just for the sake of a full-cabin coffee service. You can order it a la carte, BTW. I literally did this last week! Had an espresso pre landing at 8am. It's not like they don't have coffee on the ex-India/Singapore/MLE flights just hit the call light and they'll come running. I don't see the point of waking up everyone in the cabin early at the expense of those pax who very much want to maximize sleep. Seems unnecessary to me. I try to get every drop of sleep I can on those flights I have work the next day. And I suspect that's who CX is catering to when they don't do a coffee cart service.

As to the second point, that's a bummer they were loud. Indeed, they are permitted under policy and it is very common on both 33G and 77G for FAs to use the mini cabin to rest on non-full flights. It is embarrassing I know but as the poster above mentions, every time I've asked FAs and cockpit crew to quiet down they are mortified and comply.
