Rental cars to Terminal A (the east terminal) is about a 15 minute walk. Rental cars to Terminal B (the west terminal) would be about a 25 minute walk. But when I'm waiting for the Yolobus (city bus) I usually see a rental car shuttle every 5 minutes. It may be more like every 10 minutes that early in the morning, but you should plan on using the shuttle.
Be aware that if you do decide to walk most of the roads do not have sidewalks and really aren't suitable for pedestrians. If you're going to terminal B you'll need to walk via terminal A. I think Aviation Dr (goes from the east side of the rental car lot to terminal A) has a sidewalk. I know it does close to the terminal.
