Another hotel that does this is the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World. As you drive in the first time you have to identify yourself at the gate and as soon as you pass through I think they call in with your name and car. Usually I'm met at the curb by a "suit" saying "Welcome Mr. E. Michael (or whoever) here will help you with your luggage." and so on. It's a nice touch.
