I recently stayed at the Four Seasons on Hawaii. They have a person at the airport that meets you in baggage claim and gives you directions to the hotel (I suspect that most people rent a car).
What surprised me was that when I pulled into the hotel, I was greeted with a "Welcome to the Four Seasons, Mr. M." The airport greeter had obviously phoned ahead to the valet and given them a description of me and my name. Note that the greeter didn't know what type of car I would get, let alone the license, so this had to have been done by physical description (something like "That goofy-lookin' guy that's arriving in about 30 minutes is Mr. M."). Even though how they did this wasn't too hard to figure out, the fact that they went to so much trouble for such a little detail was definately impressive.
