Changes to free seat selection for Silvers (at least) coming soon?
Hi everyone,
Sorry to upset, and I have also mentioned this in another thread but thought it might get lost there, so hence the new thread, but feel free to merge or put somewhere more appropriate.
Some people have mentioned when doing a dummy booking they are being told to pay for seat allocations when making the booking but if you go through MMB there is no charge. Well here is my 2p's worth -
I have just called BA Silver line and the person on the phone said that there were imminent changes (they mentioned 1st October but then back peddled and said soon) which would see the end of the free seat allocation. Their advice was to book soon and allocate through MMB asap.
Also, the new charges seem to be split even further depending which seats - I know there has always been a premium for UD on 747 for example, but the booking I was looking at was to EWR on a 788 where the WTP seats in pairs AB FG (window & aisle) would be £40 each but the 3 in the middle C,D,E would be £35. So on a booking for 3 people they would happily charge me another £360 quid! The customer service rep said that when they were made aware of the changes they were surprised and not sure why the airline would do this! I said that I wouldnt be surprised given the track history of enhancing benefits away
Anyway, I'm hoping they are wrong, but It didn't sound like they were. Anyone else heard this?
