Hi all,

I have a fair few Avios I would like to use to take my Grandfather across to Malaysia and Singapore (where he fought in the war in the 50's and hasn't been back since).

However, looking at the BA prices, an economy fare on 25th April 2015, returning 3rd May 2015 is £622 return. Avios availability for the same dates says 45,500 + £620.41. So my 45,500 Avios are worth a total of £1.59??? Why would I pay more to use Avios?

Can someone please explain????????????????
