I'm flying London to Australia and have seen mixed reviews ina couple of airlines with business class, who fly that route.
If there isn't a recognised best airline for business class, does anyone have any recommendations?

Depending on the age of your children, seating layout may be an additional factor to take into account. Eg some herringbone layouts that effectively isolate passengers from each other may not be suitable.
QF flies the A380 via Dubai - so you get QF's best J product (you want to avoid QF's first generation business class seats - angled lie-flat, but not an issue with the A380). Emirates also flies that route. Note Qantas and Emirates have a partnership that doesn't work like OneWorld in terms of earning points and status, so worth understanding which codes to book to maximise points etc if these things are important to you.
Also lots of Asian airlines, transiting through different Asian hubs too.
