I must say that, whilst 1D does not sound like the epitome of chivalrous virtue, I agree with most others here that his behaviour doesn't sound all that atrocious. Maybe it's one of those 'you would have had to be there to understand' type situations.

In any case, given the amount of flying you do, if he really is your most odious ever seat neighbour, perhaps you have just been very very lucky...
