As shown on the AA mileage redemption charts, you must only route North America - South Pacific to use one award US - Australia (E.g. via Fiji or Tahiti, QANTAS' flight from JFK to SYD, etc.). What you propose will require two awards.

As AA and US are still operating separately, we will move this to the proper Pre-Merger forum.
