Wow. I've had a couple of 30k+ cars from Avis, but nothing approaching 58k. I took a recruiting call from an Avis loyalty rep a few months ago, who asked how Avis could win more of my business (Avis gets about half these days, down from virtually all of it a few years ago). I said stop charging two or three times the rates I get from Dollar and Thrifty for dirty, high-mileage cars. I think anything over 30k is high-mileage and over 50k is nasty.
