At $1250 extra cash, that's about $50 per hour. You'll be much better rested, better fed and better set up for the trip and your return to the real world. I can't speak for Qatar, but BA is certainly better than United in terms of food and wine. If you can easily afford it, then go for it.

As to Premium Economy, I think it's only worth it if it's not too much more than regular Economy. The better meal and better wine is nice to have, the larger seats are nice to have, but it's still essentially the same thing (it's sort of like economy used to be many years ago) - you don't get lie flat seats for sleeping, you don't get Lounge Access, you don't get Fast Track speeding you through the airport etc. etc. $100 more, yes, but $400 more it's a waste of money.
$1350 more could be the price of a 10 night hotel stay!
