I agree with mt-4, this is a crappy deal just to be able to use Nozomi instead of Hikari trains. Even the second, cheaper pass offered for Kanazawa and Takayama doesn't sound so great, but maybe it's a better deal.

On shinkansen, you can't even make a seat reservation. And like the full JR pass, you have to buy it outside of Japan.
