As to the BA crew announcement timing, I think it indeed is an internal rule and some cabin managers say it immediately after leaving the stand so that they can tick their mental box. Would make more sense if it was systematically done when closer to the runway.

On LH/LX for example in addition to the seatbelt pings upon entering the runway, the captain always comes on the PA earlier and says something along the lines of 'take off will be on runway 27L, we are number 4 in the queue and expect take off in 6 minutes'. That feels more useful both to pax and to crew.
You wouldn't know about it even if they did ^

Its common sense really. You shouldn't need to be told its not a good idea standing up in a 300t aircraft travelling close to 200mph.
