Doing a test booking at ba.com found the same - club and first returns were the same price!
There is an offer until end of october of a free upgrade to first but that only applies if you book in club (JCDR not I) and then you get an upgrade to first for one way - which seems pointless if you can book in first to begin with and travel in first both ways.
First can sometimes be cheaper, it all depends on what fares are left within each applicable class and what if any sales are running.

Flexible Club fares are likely to be more expensive than bargain basement F fares.
