The problem with staying in Miraflores is that although the area and nightlife is great, it is VERY FAR from the historic center. At least 30-60 mins by taxi depending on traffic. Also, Miraflores is quit the trek form/to the airport.
That's why I suggest you stay the first night at the Sheraton (only 15~20 mins by cab) and see the historic center the next day.
If you insist on seeing Miraflores, do that at the end of your trip and arrive after the morning rush hour. Maybe you can extend your trip with a day or two?
Have you decided on your flights already?
That is certainly quite the trek, especially after a long haul flight and quick turn around back to the airport. The Sheraton certainly seems like a great option, and the historic center more of an interest for us. Plus, I could nab it with Starpoints.
Flights are all through AA/LAN with no change penalties. Already switched origin airport once due to work. We arrive LIM at midnight and leave around the same time. LIM-CUZ is at 4pm now. We could extend the trip a day- your suggestion would be sleep in Lima the extra night and spend time in Miraflores, after seeing the historic center our first full day in-country? Or even skipping Miraflores/beach altogether? We have both traveled extensively internationally and have no desire to simply see an upper class neighborhood, but if its the trendy and vibrant heartbeat of Peru it may be cool. The historic center is far more of our interest though.
Thanks!
