Air travelers face more baggage searches
Hundreds of explosives-detection systems the federal government says are needed to screen passengers' baggage won't be delivered to the nation's airports in time to meet a year-end deadline - raising the likelihood of more time-consuming hand-searches of luggage this winter.
U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) made the disclosure today during a news conference at O'Hare International Airport to talk about new federal screeners who will be taking up positions at midnight inside the International Terminal.
