I just called to make a payment after reading your post. It went through just fine though this rep had to transfer me to a specialist. No such comment about this ending.

However i did speak with another rep who told me they "stopped accepting debit as of Sept 11". I think they just have a lot of made up excuses or bad info from their managers.
