I made 2 back-to-back REWARD bookings for a HI in Thailand. The first booking starts on 20 Feb 15 which is Chinese New Year. The cancellation policy says I need to cancel 1 month in advance:

Canceling your reservation before 6:00 PM (local hotel time) on Wednesday, 21 January, 2015 will result in no charge. Canceling your reservation after 6:00 PM (local hotel time) on 21 January, 2015, or failing to arrive will result in forfeiture of your deposit
The second booking starts four days later and can be canceled until 6pm the day before arrival.

This is how different cancellation terms can be for the same property.
