Haven't seen this anywhere, but Amex are changing the earning rate on the Cathay Pacific Elite Card (so far as I can tell, no change to the regular CX-branded Amex).
New rate on local spend is 1AM/HK$6, in line with DBS Black.
New rate on overseas spend is 1.5AM/HK$6.
New rate on CX.com purchases is 2AM/HK$6
For local spend, this is an improvement on the DBS card for MPO elites, assuming you don't mind the monthly autotransfer, since you don't have to call anyone once a year to get the annual fee waived. It's no change on overseas spending since 1.5AM/$6 = 2AM/$8, the old rate. The biggest gain here would be on CX.com purchases.
Unless my math is totally wrong here, this will probably persuade me to ditch the DBS black card. I earn and burn at a fast enough rate that I don't worry about expiring miles if they auto-transfer, and I'd value the convenience of not having to have yet another card in my wallet and statement in my mailbox each month.
