Typhoon Chataan @ GUM

No flights out of GUM this morning. Typhoon Chataan already killed 20 in TKK. Fortunately, buildings on Guam and the CNMI are generally constructed of concrete, so we just shrug off Hurricane-Andrew-sized storms. Instead of snow days we get typhoon days. Happy Independence Day to all, from where America's Day Begins (not counting Wake Island, where America's Day Really Begins).

The warning position is based on 0401730Z5 infrared satellite imagery and radar imagery. The warning intensity is based on satellite current intensity estimates of 90 and 102 knots. Radar imagery indicates that the eyewall has begun its track across the island of Guam and the eye itself, should begin to transit over guam within the next 2 to 3 hours.
