Thought I'd give a trip review, since there haven't been any in a few years...

The Good

* Great location, if in-town for something at the convention center. It's one of the closest hotels (depending on exactly which hall your meeting/convention is at) and in my case was literally across the street.

* The internet (particularly the wired internet) was great. Speeds of ~10meg/sec during a tech conference, when the hotel was sold-out. I was extremely impressed with this and someone at this hotel deserves a BIG pat-on-the-back for ensuring internet speeds are good--even when hotel is full!

* I heard the breakfast exceeds normal HP offerings, but I didn't have time to enjoy it myself

* Front desk staff was well-trained & helpful

The Bad

* Noise is definitely an issue for light sleepers, as the hotel has an open atrium design and sounds echo (often loudly) during breakfast. I had to wear earplugs to sleep past 8am. There are a few rooms not facing the open atrium and I will definitely request one of them on my next visit.

* Housekeeping was problematic my whole trip. After the first night, I had the 'do not disturb' sign up until 1:45pm (happily no one bothered me). I left the room and took the sign down. When I returned to the room at 7pm, it hadn't been cleaned and I had two voicemails. One from housekeeping at 3pm saying they wanted to respect my 'do not disturb' and another from the front desk at 4pm saying I can get additional towels, if needed. This would've been very nice & proactive except that my sign was down for more than an hour before receiving the housekeeping message--they never bothered to check back! The next morning (check-out day)--despite having the 'do not disturb' sign up, they actually banged on my door at 9am! Honestly, without the housekeeping issues, this would be one of my favorite HP properties.

FYI

* Rooms are smaller than standard HP rooms. Mine had a couch that was horizontal from the wall, so there was really only like 3 feet of sitting space.
* There was a refrigerator in my room
* Although the hotel is a great location if you're in town for something at the Convention Center, I wouldn't recommend it for visiting New Orleans, as it's a 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter & 15-20 minutes to Bourbon Street.
