I got to try this out on a BOS->IAH flight earlier this week. The system seems to work ok. Although occasionally I had some flicker and screen freezes and finally figured out it was a background task I was running that occasionally grabbed all the CPU.
Although how I'm going to be able to watch something and eat at the same time on my IAH->HNL Flight later this week is beyond me. I don't have any Apple devices (other than my iPod Nano), so its lap top mode for me and movies.
My major peeve is that the selection needs to get way more current, at least for me. It seemed that all the titles available were released at least 18 months ago. I'm more used to seeing first run stuff within 3-4 months on the AVOD planes and since I fly so much I were I get to watch some things I would not even consider paying movie ticket prices for.
Going to pack a bunch of our own movies for the IAH-HNL for 2 reasons
1) Lack of current content available
2) Been reading a lot about it just not working at all at times.
- Update - --
Totally non-functional on our IAH->HNL Flight. Got 10K miles for compensation.
On the Return Flight, playback was very choppy with audio/video synchronization issues.
