As for the omelette bar, if I have $1 bills I would tip, but most likely I won't. I put away all the $1 at the first day so I could do the room tip. I would put in a $5 or $10 for the omelette bar after a few days or week if I see the same person there every morning.
Wow you're generous. At buffets, I always do 10%. Is that too low? HGI's breakfast buffet is usually ~$12+tax and I tip 10% of the pre-tax amount. But HGI is slightly different in the sense that the server does a little more (takes the order for the grill item). Hence I asked the question. Maybe I will start tipping 15% at HGI.
