You can make a nice sharp weapon out of many things already onboard. 11 September happened because passengers cooperated with terrorists and pilots opened cockpit doors. It did not really matter that box cutters were permitted - they could have used a bomb scare or martial arts to accomplish the same thing. If someone tries to hijack a plane with a machete, the passengers will subdue or kill the would-be hijacker. The nonsense of emptying terminals and planes when a pointy object is found is a useless waste of time.

I think the rules that the TSA continues to impose upon us are pretty ridiculous for the most part. I don't think that allowing ANY type of knife through security should be allowed, however. A 3 inch blade or a 10 inch blade - both can do equal damage and should not be allowed. </font>
