Prior to 9/11 box cutters were permitted through security. I suppose a 3 inch blade could do just as much damage.

I think the rules that the TSA continues to impose upon us are pretty ridiculous for the most part. I don't think that allowing ANY type of knife through security should be allowed, however. A 3 inch blade or a 10 inch blade - both can do equal damage and should not be allowed.
