Advice for buddy passes?

A few keys to success

1. First flight of the day. Lots of no-shows for these which is good news for Non-revs.

2. Be patient. It might be all day or multiple days before you get on a flight.

3. Make sure the buddy pass is worth it. If you can buy a ticket for $50 more I would just buy a ticket. The savings need to be significant to make up for the time you might spend at the airport.

4. Be nice to everyone. Your success should be based on preprogrammed criteria but those Gate Agents have some power. They can choose to not clear a non-rev in order to ensure an on time departure. If they know you are polite and can follow directions they will try harder for you.

5. Be realistic. You will likely NEVER get on that flight to Hawaii during high season.

6. Travel alone. 1 seat is much easer than 2.
