I would probably say no but it depends on what is most important and what your financial situation is.

The Skylofts are really cool - I like the two stories, the bathroom is ridiculously great. Also, like the integrated suite-wide sound system, the ability to order room service from any restaurant in MGM, the fact that they will stock the fridge for you with basically whatever drinks you want. Usually get to have breaksfast in the Mansion which is terrific and a unique experience. If you get the Maybach to/from the airport, that is really neat. So, all of those are things the MO doesn't provide (bear in mind I've only stayed in a smaller suite at the MO). If you want a cool room and to be left alone, this is the place for you.

In contrast, the Mandarin has a much better spa, a sense of class/subtlety that's missing at the MGM with having to traipse through the enormous casino to get anywhere, an entirely different service culture and better furnishings. If the pool is important (still viable in October), the Mandarin's is less of a zoo and you get resort-like service. If you want a less Vegas-y experience and more attention paid to you, this is the place for you.

Of course, this is all without getting into the 4 Seasons or Wynn, each of which have their advocates.
