Excellent point and often forgotten. I could spend 30K/night at the PH Vendome which sells rooms for $900++ a night. That's over .03/point in value. But I can go down the street and get a decent Holiday Inn room for 35K IHG pts. or $250 cash. Would I ever pay >$900 for a room? No. So they really aren't worth .03/point.
