So I've sent letters and emails to Hyatt and American.

Hyatt: They sent my letter to the manager at the Hyatt Maldives. I have not gotten a response yet.

American: They responded with two $500 vouchers. I asked about mileage refund or taxes refund, or even the validity of the ticket (whether I could still use unused portion). They told me this:

"However, as you were advised by our airport personnel there are no adjustments made on oneworldŽ award tickets.

We are also sorry that you were not satisfied with the complimentary voucher that we provided. The voucher was intended to convey goodwill and to make amends in some way for the inadequate service you reported. It represents an amount we believe to be fair and reasonable."

Any thoughts???

Chase insurance: They told me my "interruption insurance" was not claimable, as it was mechanical problems.

American: 2 X $500 and the old tickets are worthless.

Hyatt: no response yet.
