I have flown MS a few times during this year's Ramadan - there actually IS a difference in the on-board service, at least on some routes. While it is allowed for travelers to eat while traveling, strict Muslims will often not do it anyway. As a result, MS proves boxed meals on some sectors in economy class (sandwiches etc.) as opposed to the usual (crappy) hot meals. I made quite a lot of flights this ramadan with MS and QR. I didn't detect any difference in MS service on board, but I was fortunate enough to be in business-class: QR cut alcohol from its regional services (which includes Cairo), although the meal service was as normal, and booze wasn't on offer in the Doha lounges.
T1 lounges at Cairo were as grim as they always are, but the T3 ones seemed to have the usual lavish (it's all relative!) spread.
