It's a crossroads of technology here, as always in the past (Betamax vs VHS, PC vs Mac, HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray, iOS vs Android, etc.). Today it's NFC vs. apps.
Worldwide, it's contactless that's the norm in fast-paced payments environments so likely that's going to be the defacto global standard.
