- Beijing airport officials said Air China flight CA129 took off from Beijing at 0037 GMT, bound for Pusan.

- Reports said Air China Boeing 767 plane crashed with 155 passengers and 11 crew members on board.

- A South Korean official said at least 54 people survived the crash and have been taken to hospital.

- China state television news reported that the flight had been diverted from Pusan, its original destination, to Seoul because of thick fog.

- Earlier, a transportation ministry official in Seoul said CA129, on a flight from Beijing to the southern city of Pusan, crashed after experiencing difficulties on a first attempt to land at Pusan airport.

- China-based Boeing officials said the Boeing 767-200 had logged more than 39,000 hours of flight time since it was delivered in 1985.
