My old job required me to stay at Shanghai almost 2-3 months out of year.

Even my new job still requires me to stay in Shanghai at least one month.

Of all of the Hyatt- I actually like PH the best.

PH- The Park Hyatt hands down has the best suite among Hyatt in Shanghai. I really like the tranquility of the environment. Its a great place to stay and rest.

However, there are several things that I don't like. Breakfast buffet is a joke at best. Not much variety. Probably worse of the hyatt branches in Shanghai. But the dinner buffet is quiet good, since its served in small portion by server. No one coughing on your food is always good .

Service is also hit and miss. It can be good one day and bad the next day. I had a Ninja attendant that all of the sudden appeared in front of me and blocked elevator entrance accusing me in a not so friendly tone that I had not signed for my dinner bill in public(which I did sign). It was quiet a scene to public question your diamond member especially blocking entrance and raise her voice. I did complain and my entire meal bill for that stay was waived. However I still did not appreciate the tone.

Grand Hyatt- The suite are decent. Although a bit older, still a decent place to stay. Service wise it probably best among the Hyatt in Shanghai.

Buffet is also quiet good. I actually liked it the most.

The only problem is just small and there is nothing around it unless you go cross the street to PH.

I personally prefer the locations of PH and GH because its in financial district hence less people and less noise. There are a lot of good restaurant in the same building of PH. Ding Tai Fung, Japanese teppanyaki.... etc.

Hyatt on the Bund- This is my 3rd choice in shanghai. One of my biggest beef with this place is the granite tile they use in the bathroom. Because its always wet, some of the suite/room has strong mildew smell. I just can't stand it. Bed is also firmest among the 4 hyatt.

Service on the other hand is quiet good. The Xin da lu restaurant on the first floor is also very good. Dinner buffet is decent but not as good as PH/GH. However, it is pricy. Last time my dinner buffet bill was only $50 RMB cheaper than PH. At PH I got all you can eat Fois gras.

The other thing that you need to watch out is that every day at 6AM sharp the ferry horn will be quiet loud. Its my wake up call every morning that I stayed there.

Andaz- I really really hate this hotel.

Location- I know its close to Xin Tien di. But its right next to a department store. Too many people. Not a good place to walk around. Way too crowded. The entrance is also little dark. Its just not what a 5 star hotel should be.

Breakfast buffet- what can i say about this. Lets just say its better than PH but that is really low bar to hit.

Room- I can't stand the room decor. I really don't need to change color of my sink or bath tub. The hardwood floor has been beat up and just looks worn. Bed is also too firm.

So if PH is out of reach price wise. I will take GH > HB >>>>Andaz.

I really really dislike Andaz. Trying to be W but no where close to W. Just cheap and tacky.
