I say they can press for a 300$ voucher each, if escalated correctly.
Next day flight, missed work, lost income, their bosses aren't understanding this wasn't there fault.....

If it wasn't MX or WX related, depends on how late they were getting home. If they put them on a non-stop first thing in the morning, I think $200 if they received a hotel voucher is fair. If they didn't get out until later in the day or had to deal with a crazy routing getting them home late, I don't think $300 is too out of line.
I hope they pressed for a hotel voucher that night. If they didn't they should send in a claim requesting reimbursement for that, as well as transportation charges if they had to take a taxi.
