Is this a CRJ thing? I know they don't always make a pot of decaf, so they usually have to brew it for you (yes, from the fetid tank water). But, I've never just been told no, even in Y. I could understand if she thought the flight wasn't long enough to brew a pot of coffee, but she could have said that. Just curious if anyone else has encountered this.
Never had it happen in F, but I've seen it a lot in Y. "Sorry, sir, I only have regular." Or "you'll have to wait until the end of service, and then I can ask the first-class FA." The latter answer is particularly galling when you're seated in EC, so the "end of service" is a long time off. It's like punishment for paying extra or having status.
