Germany seems a really expensive place to rent a car, especially when adding the insurance.

We would want to drive around Germany and maybe Belgium. Would still drop back in Amsterdam.
Look on britishairways.com for prepaid car rentals. Also look on the various European national or Australian versions of car rental sites with affiliate offices in Europe. Those are ways I get my car rental costs way down in Europe.
