Getting way off topic, I know, but:

More specifically, there used to be two separate airlines: the long haul international arm, VA, and the domestic/short haul arm, DJ. VA was originally branded V Australia, while DJ had multiple brands, including Virgin Blue and Pacific Blue. There was some contractual stipulation involving Singapore Airlines' ownership stake in VS that prevented VA/DJ from using the Virgin brand on international flights. Then that changed, and they all rebranded as Virgin Australia, partly as a move away from being a LCC towards a hybrid model with an upmarket side to compete more directly with Qantas. Confusing enough?

Later, when the Virgin Australia group switched their reservations systems to Sabre in 2012, the DJ code was retired and all became VA.

The Virgin airlines are a branding mess that does lead to significant confusion, particularly since VS and VA are not very close partners and have very different business models and route structures. They each partner more closely with DL than with each other.

Either way, VA doesn't serve HKG, so they certainly don't have a lounge there.
