Is it possible to enter the departures area after arriving on a connecting flight the night before? I'm not sure if they allow pax to overnight.

We were on the 0820 DL flight but could not catch the train out to departures until service began at 0620. There was quite the crowd waiting for the train and the terminal looked very empty when we got there with some racing to lounge chairs to, I assume, grab a nap.
