(1) I'm sure they do. I still contend that they aren't a statistically significant impediment to you getting your award seat. In fact, I don't even think this is a statistically significant use of all of the miles held by 1K's in this world. (I'm talking about purposeful hoarding of seats, knowing they'll cancel all but one.)

(2) The small locally-owned grocery in Bohinj? The little hardware store in Aberystwyth? The really good wine shop in Santa Rosa? (This is a silly question.)

(3) That still doesn't make it classy. And while on the surface it just sounds cheap, to me it would be quite expensive in terms of how I value my time during a vacation.
