....this was also a suspicion of mine. Especially since a broken bottle was provided with my bag at baggage collection, and I was specifically told "it broke in your suitcase". It was as if they were proving to me the problem. It felt shady because the blame in that scenario is passed to the passenger, as any experienced flier and/or ground staff will know. Wine broken inside suitcase = passenger fault. But wine breaking outside suitcase, like my situation? Never, ever heard of this before. And the suitcase was returned to me completely closed and sealed. I fly 150k-300k miles annually. This is not some rookie mistake. Plus, there was a bottle completely missing.

Yup. I fly with wine all the time. From single bottles in bags to entire cases checked as a bag. Never once, ever had an issue. I use containers similar to what FedEx ships in.
