In Switzerland (and I guess in Europe in general), the Amex Plat/Cent Shopping Insurance doesn't cover watches and jewelry. For the items that are covered, the maximum amount you can claim is 3000 USD. I'd be quite surprised if the conditions were substantially different in the US.
