We have coffee, tea and security
by ANNE CHALFANT: TICKET TO RIDE

WE WON'T SOON forget the tale of the American Airlines flight attendant who caught creepy passenger Richard Reid in the act of trying to set the tongue of his sneaker on fire to detonate explosive materials in the shoe.

Three cheers -- no, make that three thousand cheers -- for the flight attendant who had her eyes wide open and was right there after he lit a second match.

But it is disturbing to think what might have happened if the flight attendant had been been sequestered away with her colleagues in the curtained galley, taking a break. That's often the mode on long flights. This particular flight was from Paris to Miami.

Flipping that thought around, what if strolling the aisles became a routine part of flight attendant duty? That's a suggestion posed in an e-mail this week from Tim Winship, editor and publisher of FrequentFlier.com.....
