Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Introduction My apologies for the delays! The FS Maui has been a property I have been looking forward to visiting -- it was a seminal resort design back when it opened and remains today as a very popular resort still. &nbsp;<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0685.sized.jpg">The Porte Corchere:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0663.sized.jpg">Wheels down (almost!)<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0660.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0659.sized.jpg">On approach to OGG:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0658.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0653.sized.jpg">Coast of Maui:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0647.sized.jpg">Lanai port for the ferry to Lahaina, Maui:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0646.sized.jpg">The buildings to the left of the beach is the Four Seasons Manele Bay<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0641.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Mokulele-Airlines/IMG_0637.sized.jpg">After my stay on Lanai I moved to Maui for my stay at the Four Seasons. One can take a ferry from Lanai to Lahaina or fly -- I chose to fly. I took Mokulele Airlines which fly once a day from Lanai City to Maui-Kahului (OGG). It is a 15 minute flight on Cessna aircraft. My one way fare was $39 including taxes plus a $15 checked bag fee. Since I was the only passenger it became a private charter and we departed 30 minutes early. Here are a few photos: Check In Check-in was quick and was soon escorted to the room on the 6th floor.I arrived at the hotel to be warmly welcomed by the door staff who quickly took care of my luggage. As I entered the resort, I was presented with my lei, oshibori towel and cold juice while being escorted to the Front Desk.In the end, I was assigned an Ocean View Prime room.At the time of reservation, I was confirmed into "Run of House" which essentially means not confirmed into any specific room type. It may be Parking lot view, or it may be Ocean view. At check-in I would find out! Room The end of the right "arm" houses the Maile Suite -- the suites at the ends of these arms have fantastic views. Be prepared to pay dearly for that privilege!<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0710.sized.jpg">The end of the "arms" yields the best views -- this side is the "left" arm and is home to the Lokelani suite, one of the 2 Presidential suites:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0699.sized.jpg">A different view from the same room as above:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0698.sized.jpg">View from an Ocean View room on the outside of the left "arm":<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0702.sized.jpg">Looking back to the base of the "U", taken from the Club Lounge lanai:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0671.sized.jpg">The view of the left "arm" of the hotel building with the angled rooms:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0679.sized.jpg">The view from the lanai into the room:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0665.sized.jpg">The view from my lanai:<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0676.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0675.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0674.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0673.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0672.sized.jpg">View of the room from just outside the bathroom:My room was an Ocean View Prime with 2 queen beds. It had a nice layout and is perfect for families. Upon entry there is a long entrance hall lined with closets on one side and the large bathroom on the other. The bathroom has double vanities, separate WC, bath tub and separate shower stall. Toiletries are Lorenzo Villoresi of Florence. The room then opens up with 2 queen beds, a sofa (which converts into a double sofa bed, upon request), coffee table and a work desk with 2 chairs. Beyond that is the large furnished lanai. The (in)famous Mountain View rooms are on the outside of the base of the U and do feature quite prominently a parking lot view. All of the rooms are 56 sq meters or 600 sq feet in size but come in two different layouts. Most of the rooms are angled rooms with an odd layout -- but can result in some spectacular views. Other rooms are long rectangular rooms. Mine was the latter type. The main building is basically shaped like a U with the base of the U inland and the arms facing the ocean. The left hand side arm has an 8th floor (the Club floor) while the rest of the building is 7 floors. Dining <strong>Duo</strong> is the steak and seafood restaurant on pool level directly under Spago. Aside from the requisite steaks, seafood and extensive wine list there is also an all you can eat raw bar option which comes with soup or salad, unlimited selections from the raw bar.<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0692.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0693.sized.jpg">I had their signature lobster panini on gluten free bread and shared part of a gluten free pizza.<strong>Ferraro's</strong> is on the pool level on the right "arm" of the hotel and has access to the beach. Ferraro's offers great wood-fired pizzas at lunch and a varied Italian menu at dinner. They do take reservations at dinner but none at lunch time. Service is, as expected, much less formal here than Spago but equally as good. For those who have dietary requirements the restaurant is happy to customize their options for you. For those who are gluten intolerant, note they do not have any gluten free bread to serve to guests.<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0684.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0683.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0682.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0681.sized.jpg"><strong>Spago </strong>is Wolfgang Puck's outpost in Wailea. It is located on the Lobby level at the end of the left "arm" of the hotel. I had a lovely steak cooked over lava rocks heated to 700 degrees; a risotto to start, washed down with a Russian river valley Pinot Noir. The 3 main restaurants at the resort at Spago, Duo and Ferraro's. I dined at Ferraro's and Spago (lunch and dinner, respectively) and also had in-room dining for dinner and breakfast. Pool Note there are plenty of beach chairs to be had!!<img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0707.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0696.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0695.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0697.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0694_001.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0688_001.sized.jpg">There are plenty of beach chairs and cabanas at the adult pool. There is a swim up bar for drinks and food. It is quite quiet and a welcome respite from the Main pool.<strong>Main pool area</strong><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0708.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0709.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0710.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0711.sized.jpg"><strong>The Adult Serenity Pool</strong> Final Photos of the Resort <img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0700.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0701.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0703.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0705.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0712.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0713.sized.jpg"><img alt="" src="http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/albums/Four-Seasons-Resort-Maui-at-Wailea/IMG_0714.sized.jpg">
