A route that 'never was' was the ORD-DEL nonstop that was to start in late 2001. 9/11 put paid to that one--at least that is what I have assumed was the case. I was booked on it for Jan. 2002, but, as noted, if did not fly. (I think some technological challenges would also have presented themselves at DEL in the hot season, since that planned departure was, as I recall, late afternoon, and the lift might have been problematic in terms of possible load.)

The EWR-BOM can be a long sit--last time we were on it, a medical emergency started a diversion, then it was re-thought, but the fuel burn was enough that we had to land at YUL for refueling. Turned into a 17 hour sit.
