Meal vouchers...a thing of the past?

Today's routing was CMH>BNA>MSY. We boarded in CMH and were told that there was a hydraulic leak that could not be fixed quickly, so we would need a plane swap. The delay caused my wife and I to misconnect at BNA. It was known before we left that the misconnect would occur, and we were issued new BPs while in the air for the next BNA>MSY nonstop, which is to get us in exactly 7 hours after the original scheduled arrival.

I approached an Ops Agent with the backstory and inquired about a meal voucher, seeing as how the MX issue was going to net us an unplanned half day at BNA. He flat out denied it, and when I pressed the issue, he got on the radio to someone (station manager?) who ALSO flat out denied it, but then he unexpectedly offered us both $100 LUV vouchers "for the inconvenience."

In the past I have received meal vouchers for far less inconvenience than a 7 hour MX delay. Any thoughts? Should I get off of Flyertalk and call Dallas?
