I think a lot would depend on the relative sizes of each item.

Small versions of each, with the possibility to tuck one of them inside the other - no problem.

Larger versions of each, which exceed the sizes to start with could be a problem. Like KenJohn, I don't see a big risk in getting stopped in YYC, but you could run into problems at LHR. But from what I see the chances are decent you'd pass unhindered.
