You blew it with that example. You are aware, or maybe not, that it was later proven that Zimmerman didn't know the race of Martin when he first started following him and that Martin initiated the fight. Racism was simply not part of the equation. Though a lot of people tried to make it part of the issue.

In the real world, the application of racism does vary by sex and age. It doesn't mean the racism is any less real.
There are a couple of types of racism. One is treating people differently purely because of their race. The other is accusing people of being racist without proof.
